The European Water Partnership was invited by the Committee of the Regions to be a partner of the Blue Planet Forum which will take place in Brussels on 27 - 28 November 2007 . The Blue Planet Forum is an initiative by the Committee of the Regions with the support of the European Commission Directorate General for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs and the collaboration of World Ocean Network in the context of the European Commission "Blue Paper" on an integrated European maritime policy. The Blue Paper envisages actions based on four themes: maximising the sustainable use of the oceans and seas, building a knowledge and innovation base for maritime policy, promoting Europe's leadership in international maritime affairs and ensuring the delivery of the highest quality of life in coastal regions.
